Fernando Cañedo is a Brazilian composer, sound designer, music producer, voice artist, and multi-instrumentalist. He is the founder and creative director at Data Estelar Estúdios, a production company focused on audio post-production for series, films, advertisements, and digital media. He has participated in projects broadcast on various television channels, web platforms, and streaming services such as Cartoon Network LATAM, HBO Max, Comedy Central, YouTube, Paramount Plus, Netflix, TNT, Globo Play, Futura, Gloob, Warner, and Canal Brasil, as well as in international festival circuits. Among the most well-known projects he has contributed to, he is responsible for the original music and sound post-production of the character Any Malu, the first digital influencer in animated cartoons, created by Combo Studio and supported by Cartoon Network. The YouTube channel "O (sur)real mundo de Any Malu" has over 3 million subscribers and more than 500 million total views. Cañedo has contributed to this project since its inception in 2015, and also to the series derived from it that have been broadcast throughout Latin America – such as "Malubys", "Best Of Any ‘Malu, O Real Mundo de Any Malu, Any Malu Backstage", "MaluCast", and "Any Malu Show". The latter is a series that covers CN programming and, in one of its segments, employs a Talk Show format in which it invites other characters from the network's series for interviews, such as 'The Powerpuff Girls', 'Scooby-Doo', 'Ben 10', 'The Amazing World of Gumball', and 'Regular Show'. The series achieved the highest viewership during its premiere on pay TV across Brazil among children aged 6 to 11 in 2020; among free-to-air channels, it was surpassed only by Rede Globo during its time slot. In terms of original songs and parodies, it has amassed over 50 million views on YouTube. In the "TOP 10 ABERTURAS DO CARTOON", "Any Malu Show" ranked 3rd by popular vote in the competition held on CN’s social media.

Additionally, he is a co-composer in partnership with Thiago Gobet on the series "Gigablaster" (since 2018), a co-production by Estricnina Desenhos Animados—the production company of directors Marco Pavão, Thiago Martins, and Cazé Pecini, best known for the classics Megaliga MTV of VJs Paladinos and Fudêncio e Seus Amigos—in collaboration with Copa Studio (Irmão do Jorel). He also produced for animations such as the short film "Mundinho" (2024) by the partners at Motim Criativo, who are also responsible for the educational animated video series of the "Mindkids" project, which trains educators and institutions in mindfulness meditation, a project to which Cañedo also contributes; the multi-award-winning short "Dream Eaters" (2022) by Mike Wanderroscky; the pilot "As Aventuras de Zaninja" (2020) by Luiza de Moraes; "Curiosidades de Charlotte", "Livros que adoro ler"

and the Especiais Alivium Infantil for "Canal da Charlotte" (2021/2022); the series 'Masmorras e Batatas' (2022) by Bugbite; the short "Feioso" by Zumbi produções and Subversiva Estúdio; the mini-series "O Mundo Mágico do Corpo Humano" (2021) by Veranito Animation Studio and Miríade, directed by Gabriel Bittar—best known for Tito e os Pássaros—and, in addition to these titles, he also made a significant

contribution to the world of adult animations by providing original music, sound design, and mixing for "Família Pharmaco" (2021), created by Miguel Falabella, directed by Filipe Fratino, produced by Miríade and featuring a large cast from Brazilian TV such as Marisa Orth, Alessandra Maestrini, Cininha de Paula, Edgar Bustamante, Stella Miranda, Adriano Tunes, Frederico Reuter, and Renata Vilella; he also created original music for Animatoons (2016) by Felipe Castanhari; additional music for Superdrags (2018); and co-composed for the animated Christmas special of Porta dos Fundos "Te Prego Lá Fora" (2021). Furthermore, in partnership with Combo Studio, he contributed to the pilot of "The Lunartics", created and directed by Julius Preite (VP of animation at Fox, known for acclaimed series such as The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Futurama, and Family Guy) and Dan Feasman (writer for NCIS and The King of Queens). Fernando produced the original music, sound design, was responsible for the mixing, and also "lent" his voice to the "Tics."

Although he is best known for his achievements in animation—with more than 300 series episodes released—it is important to highlight his experience in advertising, films, games, and trailers. In the field of advertising, he contributed to campaigns and content for brands such as PlayStation, Gatorade, Audible, 3 Corações, Crunchyroll, Turner, All Star, Santander, Colgate, NVidia, Campari, Sulamérica Seguros, Wizard, among others. He also provided services as a freelance music producer for audio production companies like Satélite Áudio, Trio, Loud, Evil Twins, and directly for various agencies and brands. In 2021, he won the "Best Original Soundtrack" category at the RIMA Awards, and was nominated in the "Narrative Film Soundtrack" category at the Garoa Awards for the music composed for the award-winning Luso-Brazilian drama "A Margem". For the drama short "Transfugo", he also received a nomination for best music at the RIMA Awards. In 2023, he won in the "Best Sound Awards" category and was nominated in the "Best Music" category at the international festival Top Indie Film Awards for the animated short "Dream Eaters". He was also a finalist twice consecutively (2018 and 2019) at the Berlin International Sound Design Competition for the animated shorts "Wrapped" and "Escape".

In 2024 and 2025, he co-produced, through Data Estelar Estúdios, contributing the original score, sound supervision, and sound design in the post-production and mixing of various live-action productions. These include the sci-fi and horror "vertifilme" web series "O Mesmo Encontra-se Parado Neste Andar", created by Murphys Media; the dramedy short film "Winnie e Sal" by Naked Filmes; the

drama medium-length film "Aquela Sombra em Seu Sorriso" by director Luciano Santos; the dramatic short "A Jornada de Piatã" by Rockset; and the fantasy/horror feature film "Cantos Escuros - A Herança de Pietra", produced by Nuzzi Filmes and awarded at the V GO Film (Goiânia Film Festival) in the categories Jury Honorable Mention and Best Feature Film chosen by the audience.

As an instrumentalist, he has collaborated with national and international musicians and producers, such as the French CYESM on the albums "Score" (2014) and "The Sinner and The Priest" (2019), and the Danish Lars Christensen on the album "Road to Redneck County" (2018), released by Bentley Records, as well as the single "Old Grizzly" (2021) by Public Alert. He is also a member of FernanDUO alongside his friend, the Rio de Janeiro-based pianist and composer Fernando Moura; together they released the albums "Aqui é Lá" in 2019 and "Aí Vamos Nós" in 2021. He creates and licenses original music for various music libraries such as Astral Wolf Records, Kiwiii, Punks, Jacarandá Áudio, and the production labels of Data Estelar Estúdios.

Additionally, he is a beta tester and demo composer for several international companies that develop professional audio software such as VSTi, VST, and DAW. He is also the co-founder of Urutu Áudio, a developer of libraries for the software Kontakt Full—a player by Native Instruments with sales in more than 23 countries. He conducts the workshop "Na Trilha da Prática", which addresses the main themes and concepts related to the practice of creating soundtracks and audio post-production for audiovisual projects and their unique characteristics.

Fernando Cañedo has a genuine passion for the process of musical and audiovisual creation, the technology involved, and the art of storytelling. He considers the exploration, recording, blending, and manipulation of timbres, resonances, and textures to be parallel achievements to modalities such as painting and handicraft.
